NEW YORK METEOR STRIKE
The parallel, closely spaced bands on some of these ilmenite crystals are evidence of a high-pressure shock from an extraterrestrial impact. These crystals suggest such an impact occurred in the Atlantic Ocean about 2,300 years ago near what is now New York City, swamping the shore with an immense tsunami.
